Consumption of whole grains is on the rise and is evidenced throughout an increasingly growing consumer marketplace. A report from Stratistics MRC indicates the market for global whole grain and high fiber foods is expected to reach $46.2 billion by 2022. Why are consumers making the change? They are seeking more nutritious food products that taste good, and for good reason. While daily whole grain requirements vary depending on age and gender, MyPlate suggests that at least half of all the grains eaten should be whole. Whole grains like sorghum contain beneficial nutrients like protein, fiber, iron and B vitamins.
This rising popularity for whole grains echoes for whole grain sorghum, too. There are nearly 1,000 retail products on grocery store shelves containing sorghum according to Label Insight.
