March Madness is here! Being an athlete requires maintaining a healthy diet in order to perform well on the court. Just like them, you too need to eat healthy to excel in your day to day activities.
Smoothies make for an excellent healthy snack or on-the-go meal. They can be tailored to any taste or dietary preference. Smoothies allow you to add in a variety of ingredients – milk, yogurt, whole grains, fruit, vegetables – that can can help you meet your daily allowance of calcium, protein, fiber and other important vitamins and minerals. Best of all, they can be easily made in less than 10 minutes.
Choose a base liquid base of choice such as milk, almond milk, soy milk or coconut water.
Add in your favorite fresh fruit or for a cold, frosty kick, add in frozen fruit. You can even add in some leafy greens for a green smoothie supercharge.
Mix in some protein with whole grain sorghum! Not only will the grain add a protein punch to your smoothie, it will also help thicken your tasty creation.
If you want your smoothie to have a slight sweet flavor, add a little sorghum syrup or honey.
Serve in your favorite glass or to-go cup. If you’re looking for a new way to enjoy your smoothie, mix things up by serving in a bowl. Further enhance your smoothie bowl nutrients by topping with nuts, seeds, fruit or other ingredients of choice.
